Dear Friends of the Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic,
One of Jim’s great loves was fishing and the creation of the Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic filled him with great pride and joy. He was proud to bring his family, friends and the community together for this fun event, all while supporting community organizations and charities. It was one of Jim’s requests that the Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic carry on now and into the future. It was important to him that everyone continues to participate to carry on his efforts of creating awareness and financial support for these organizations. More than that, he got a great sense of joy in bringing everyone together for a great weekend of fishing and fellowship.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Jim “Mad Dog” Mandich lost his battle with cancer yesterday. This man who was bigger then life will be missed by all who knew him. Jim touched those around him in many different ways whether it was as a friend, a colleague, an athlete or as a beloved broadcaster. One of his special gifts in life was that no matter how he knew you, he made everyone feel like they were a friend.
In keeping with Jim’s desire and request, we will host the 4th Annual Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic, May 20 & 21 at the Miami Beach Marina and in Islamorada on October 7 & 8, 2011. We hope you will join us for these events and we encourage you to invite your friends and colleagues to participate to help carry on Jim’s wishes.
